Nembe began its two-day symposium on 22 February 2026 with a faith-based peace and unity programme titled “Peace Within, Peace Beyond.” The event, designed to bring the community together in a spirit of reconciliation, mutual respect, and shared commitment to peaceful coexistence.
The programme emphasized peace not merely as an idea, but as a daily practice rooted in empathy, dialogue, forgiveness, and cultural values. Participants were encouraged to reflect on the importance of inner peace as the foundation for stronger families, healthier communities, and a more united nation.
A major highlight of the day was the gathering of Christian denominations and faith-based groups across Nembe. They worshipped together despite doctrinal and traditional differences, church leaders and members demonstrated the strength of unity in diversity. This interdenominational fellowship also reflected the enduring legacy of King Koko, remembered for justice, cohesion, and service to the community.
At the heart of the event was a collective prayer session for Nembe, Bayelsa State, and Nigeria. Prayers focused on healing, understanding, prosperity, youth development, family stability, institutional strength, and lasting unity across ethnic and religious lines.
As the opening event of the symposium, “Peace Within, Peace Beyond” sets a spiritual tone for the days ahead. It reminded participants that true peace begins within the heart and extends outward into homes, communities, leadership, and the future. Through worship, reflection, and fellowship, Nembe started the symposium with a renewed hope for harmony and progress.
